Determinants of the Attitude towards the NHI

Abstract
For the sustainable development of the NHI (National Health Insurance) as a universal and comprehensive social welfare institution, it needs to examine the peoples" attitude towards the NHI. This study tries to analyze the determinants on peoples" attitude towards the NHI. To investigate the relationship between the social values and the peoples" attitude, this study re-analyzed the 2006 NHI Satisfaction Survey 2006 of the NHIC (National Health Insurance Corporation). Two thousand samples were selected with probability proportional to population size (by region/sex/age). To explore the relationship between demographical-social characters, health status and medical needs of individuals and households, the attitude of public vs. market orientation, being policyholder of private health insurance, this study used a multinominal logistic regression analysis. The results showed that household"s income, age, private health insurance and market orientation attitude have negative influence on the attitude of changing the current NHI for the system of strengthening the equity. And study confirmed that health status of families have positive influence on the positive influence on the attitude of changing the current NHI for the system of strengthening the equity.
